The Metropolis series describes the energy and complexity of Chicago. Clemmons refers to his angular sculptural works Metropolis as a neo-cubist, graffiti and mixed media discovery. Line structures are formed around color windows as a voyeuristic view of society and every day life. The work suggests a different path from Kieth Haring’s interconnected curly and human glyphs formations, and suggests individualized human characters navigating life joys and challenges.
